Day 3: Tomb Day

Today is our 3rd day here. I woke up this morning at 1:30am and finally fell back asleep from about 4:30 to 5:00, after that I decided to get up and just get my day started. Jon and I were the 1st people down to breakfast. Our breakfast buffet included an array of items from bacon, toast, cereals, noodles, fried rice, chicken nuggets, fruits, and a big variety of pastries. These were only some of the items that they had out, and no we were not brave enough to try the majority of the items!

After breakfast our guide picked us up and took us to a museum of the oldest tomb of an emperor ever uncovered in China. It was so neat! We were able to walk down into the actual tomb and go through the various chambers. This has by far been the highlight of our trip, so far that is. We loved going through the museum and reading about China’s history and seeing some of the very old artifacts. One room of the museum that we went through was a display of very old stone pillows, yes I just said stone pillows! They were over 1,000 years old!! They included pillows that had poems written on them to little figurines. And we thought our pillows were stiff and uncomfortable. It amazes me how much history is here in China. And I’m trying to soak it all up!
Here we are standing outside the tomb entrance.

Some of the stone pillows!

Our guide gave us our schedule for the rest of our time here in China. And we are looking forward to exploring some more. One day she has us going to a temple, we cant wait!

We are still struggling to get by on our own, when our guild leaves us. I fell like a lost puppy without her. Jon and I have struggled the most with finding foods that we will eat. For lunch today we walked over to the 7 11 and shared some Chinese Pringles and crackers. For dinner we ventured back to Lucy’s (the American style restaurant that we ate at last night), the workers are probably going to be tired of seeing us there every day by the time leave to go back home. We tried to order a pizza, and just stay in our room for the night. But after an hour of trying we were told they do not deliver here anymore. So we gave up and headed out to Lucy’s.
Jon at Lucy's, yes he is sitting next to a tree and yes we are inside.
We took a walk around the Island after dinner and found this Starbucks.

We were glad to have a pretty low key kind of a day today, because tomorrow we will leave at 2:00pm to get Pacey! Tonight is the last night he will have to sleep alone! It still doesn’t seem real that tomorrow is the day we have been waiting for, for over a year! Tomorrow is the day we will wrap our arm tightly around our son and never let go. Pray for him and his heart during this dramatic change in his life. These past few days have been uncomfortable, confusing, and sometimes just downright weird for us…and I have a feeling that God is giving us a small taste of what Pacey is going to have to go through. I hope that we are able to sympathize with him better during this time of adjustment. We are so excited to meet him and get to know him!
